New releases from Rolex, Fleming, Venezianico and more

While very different from each other, the first was the ceremony of the 96th Academy Awards, during which Rolex quietly announced a new model. The second is the beginning of the Ramadan period, which has led some brands to focus on Islamic culture with some dedicated special editions. There are many other interesting novelties from these past seven days and we invite you to discover them all below. Enjoy!
Rolex Day-Date 40 “Academy”
- Rolex celebrates its close relationship with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by releasing a new model for the 96th Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars.
- The classic Day-Date model’s rose gold case and bracelet are paired with a slate grey ombré dial with Roman numerals.
- The removal of the minute track is a nice touch that elevates the model to more elegant and refined levels.

Baltic Hermétique Glacier
- Baltic presents two limited editions based on the already successful Hermétique collection with a pair of stunning dials.
- The carved look of the dial takes inspiration from icy expanses and it’s either available in frosty white or textured black.
- Dials with similar amounts of depth are difficult to find, especially at this price point, making these Baltics a unique value proposition.

Parmigiani Tonda PF Hijri Perpetual Calendar Viridian Green
- Parmigiani brings back the Tonda PF Hijri Pereptual Calendar in a new, vivid green tone.
- The Hijri calendar is a tabular Islamic calendar developed by Muslim scholars and astronomers in the 8th century.
- The calendar starts in 622 with the Prophet Muhammad’s Hijrah from Mecca to Medina (current Saudi Arabia).

Fleming Series 1
- Thomas Fleming assembles the horological Avengers for an ultra-high-end indie debut.
- Kari Voutilainen’s Comblémine is responsible for the hand-finished dials, while Chronode’s Jean-François Mojon helped develop the highly decorated movement.
- Available in three metals, Fleming is already planning a second watch, to be designed by AP Royal Oak Offshore designer Emmanuel Gueit.

RZE x Fratello Resolute Pro Contour
- Titanium specialist RZE creates a limited field watch with Fratello.
- With a forged carbon dial with steel powder mixed in to create a topographical pattern.
- The full titanium case and bracelet have added scratch resistance thanks to a coating of UltraHEX.

Venezianico Nereide GMT Emirates Limited Edition
- The small Italian brand Venezianico celebrates the United Arab Emirates as a crucial stop on the Silk Road from Venice to the Orient.
- Tones of sand and white both on the dial and on the bezel act as a reminder of the area’s landscapes.
- The mother-of-pearl mosaic on the dial is handmade and takes inspiration from arab geometries.

Bulgari Octo Finissimo Sketch 140th Anniversary
- Bulgari celebrates its 140th anniversary with three new Octo Finissimo Sketch models.
- Recalling the 10th anniversary of the Octo Finissimo, the new limited editions feature esquisse dials that use Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani’s sketches.
- These two automatic models in steel and rose gold are limited to 280 pieces and 70 pieces, respectively, while a steel Chronograph GMT is limited to 140 pieces.

Cartier Tank Française MM Japanese Market Exclusive

- The new Cartier Tank Française MM Japanese Market Exclusive is not a limited edition, but it is exclusive to Japan.
- Its dial utilises a monochromatic aesthetic, interplaying with light and dark grey shades.
- Case and bracelet in stainless steel, executed in the medium size.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm Copper Diamond Bezel
- Following the success of the Laureato 38mm Copper, Girard-Perregaux adds a shiny detail to the popular model.
- The intricate Clous de Paris dial is rendered in a warm copper tone with seconds hand and logo in rose gold matching the same palette.
- The bezel is set with 56 diamonds and it will be available from March onwards.

Genus GNS2
- The new Genus model maintains the principle that made the first model iconic – but in a more minimalist fashion.
- The movement behind this model is the same as the first GNS1 that won the GPHG in 2019.
- This first inaugural ‘GNS2 Launch Edition’ will be limited to just 18 pieces.

William Wood Fire Exit
- This quirky William Wood day-date model plays around with the little man from fire exit graphics, trying to imagine how life looks from his perspective.
- The dial’s colour is colour-matched to the actual standard fire exit sign – great attention to detail.
- The case is in stainless steel with a gunmetal grey coating and it’s paired with a green rubber strap made from upcycled fire hose.
