A strong selling point for Oris watches are their value-driven pricing. The majority of their watches are priced under $4,000 USD, their Sellita-driven pieces the most approachable (closer to $2,000 USD) and their in-house calibre watches not much more (just below $4,000 USD). But the accessibility of their pieces is not limited to competitive pricing, where they also excel within their catalogue is their range of sizes and colours – especially the Oris Aquis Date line. There is a model for everyone, with diameters from 36.5mm to 43.5mm. Today the independent manufacture unveils their largest Cherry Aquis Date yet, alongside a duo of subtly two toned Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400s for those bi-metal curious.

Oris Aquis Date Relief Cherry 43.5mm

Oris Aquis Date

Introduced in February 2021, the Oris Aquis Date Relief 41.5mm drew attention with a less commonly seen sunburst cherry red dial. As an Aquis Date Relief, the watch does not utilize a ceramic bezel insert. Instead, as its name suggests, the timing bezel is executed with a frosted stainless-steel insert with raised and polished indicators and numerals in relief. The monochromatic externals let the cherry red dial really pop, the blast of colour really coming through as a strong focal point with little distraction. The model introduced today provides a larger alternative to the previous 41.5mm version. It has the same cherry red dial with a symmetrically placed 6′ white on black date window, the same Sellita-based calibre, with a case and bracelet rendered with the same mixed finishes. The only difference is its larger 43.5mm case, catering to those who really enjoy a larger presence on their wrist.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 Bi-Colour 41.5mm

With so much steel in the mix, some of you may be looking to spice things up a bit. But if you are not ready to fully commit to precious metal, or typical two tone for that matter, Oris’ new bi-coloured Aquis Date Calibre 400 divers allow you to safely test the waters. The only 18K gold element of the watch is its bezel, the yellow gold seen strictly in the knurling of the bezel. The remaining gold accents, the hands and timing scale on the dial-matching ceramic insert, are gold-coloured rather than 18K gold. This allows Oris to keep the price down. Within this new bi-coloured duo, you have the option of blue and green colour schemes – two of the most in-demand colours we see in the market today. The sunburst dials each have a sort of fumé effect, the outer ring where the minute hashes are printed and the indices applied remaining black, or near black, at all angles. This not only creates a sense of intrigue, like being beneath the water staring down into the depths of the ocean below, but also better blends the white on black date complication found at 6′ into the dial.

A strong benefit of each of these models is the fact you have Oris’ quick-strap change system at your disposal. Therefore, I would personally suggest buying the watch on the bracelet and purchasing the rubber strap separately if desired. Typically, it is more expensive to purchase a bracelet separately than a strap. Considering it is only $200 USD more, I believe it is safer to splurge on the bracelet and purchase the rubber afterwards than to do the inverse and, with the quick-strap change system, it will be super easy to swap between the pair. Another compelling benefit is its automatic calibre 400 movement, an in-house caliber that offers 5 full days of power reserve, a regulation of +5/-3 seconds per day, high-resistance against magnetism, and a build Oris backs with a 10-year warranty.
