Ryan Gosling reps TAG Heuer in new film “The Gray Man”Zach Blass
Almost exactly one year ago, the incredibly talented (and handsome) Ryan Gosling was announced as a TAG Heuer ambassador. When I covered this announcement, I noted that I was very excited to see how this partnership would develop. Today, we see a major fruit of this relationship in the form of a fitting wrist-cameo in Gosling’s latest film The Gray Man.
Based on the popular book series by Mark Greaney, Netflix’s The Gray Man is an action-packed film that revolves around a top CIA asset discovering agency secrets, in turn unleashing an onslaught of assassins sent by his former colleagues. The film is directed by the Russo brothers (Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame) and stars not only Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Regé-Jean Page, but also the 39mm TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands WBN2111.FC6505 (black leather strap) and WBN2111.BA0639 (H-link bracelet) coming along for the ride on Gosling’s wrist.
Throughout the international spy thriller, Gosling, as assassin “Sierra Six”, is constantly on the run. To survive, he needs to always be on his guard and bringing his espionage A-game, making Gosling – and by extension his film character – a perfect fit for the TAG Heuer motto “don’t crack under pressure”.
Marketing taglines aside, were a CIA asset to wear a mechanical timepiece in favour of something like a G-Shock, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands is definitely a great pick. Both highly robust and legible, the watch delivers strictly what is needed – the time and date – and has a build and finish that allows the watch to seamlessly blend into any environment whether formal or functional. It is not a watch that begs for attention, so for a character who needs to remain under the radar, it makes perfect sense.
