WHO TO FOLLOW: @case_and_crown will remind you of the sheer joy of collecting

There will be a point in your collecting life when the snobbery and pretentiousness of the scene can become too much. A time when it feels like your collection just isn’t good enough (which makes sense when you’re constantly being bombarded by limited-edition hype pieces). In moments like this, there is no need to look for the emergency collecting brake. Simply find inspiration in those collectors around you who are still having one heck of a good time. A collector like our Who To Follow choice for this week, @case_and_crown.

@case_and_crown, whose actual name is Debby, is a watch collector out of New England, U.S.A that has been chronicling her journey on her page for nearly two years. Watching it grow, you’re reminded of how it felt falling down that rabbit hole. From getting introduced to microbrands, to trying out major brands before grabbing that top-tier piece. Many of us have been there, but sometimes we forget what it felt like and the excitement of it all. Yet with Debby’s page, it’s like you’ve been given a chance to relive it all. From the viewpoint of a funny, down-to-earth collector.

One thing that really stands out with @case_and _crown is all the microbrands she has posted to her account. Lovingly nicknamed the Microbrand Queen, you’ll find multiple microbrands with unique aesthetics on her page; with her favourite seeming to be Brew Watches. In the post above, you’ll even see her pictured with the brand’s owner, Jonathan Ferrer. It’s important to note that it’s this closeness to the brand and the accessibility of those behind it that many find so appealing about microbrands.

Overall,  Debby’s account is a reminder of what it is that got most of us into collecting. The watches, the people and the joy you find in learning what it is you like and don’t like. This is a path many of us take yet in a race to get to the finish line, we don’t stop to enjoy things on the road it took to get there. @case_and_crown, in her humour and self-discovery is on that road and it’s a journey well worth your follow.
