With the rise of social media and its symbiotic relationship with watches, much of what we consume regarding horology is found online. But just as a hardcover book will always have a greater appeal than a Kindle, there is something really special about physical watch magazines. Whether gracing the surface of a coffee table, or filling row after row of a bookshelf, it is really neat to build a tangible library of watch magazines (by the way, don’t miss Time+Tide‘s very own NOW magazine that’s released at the end of October). But this week, another magazine has officially launched with a very intriguing twist. Watchonista has introduced their new biannual magazine, the only catch is, you cannot actually buy it.

To secure a copy of Watchonista: Volume 01, readers will need to find their nearest retailer or brand boutique with the magazine via the “Find The Magazine” button that is now located at the top of Watchonista’s homepage. During your visit, there you will be able to acquire a complimentary copy of this new magazine. Having had the pleasure of snagging my own copy during my time at Couture here in Las Vegas, I can personally attest that the magazine is of the utmost quality – giving a sense of tactile luxury befitting the luxury watches covered in its contents.

Watchonista explains: “The inaugural issue of Watchonista’s print magazine will run 120 pages long and cover a wide range of topics, including watches, collector experiences, interviews, gift guides, and special event coverage, to name a few. Moreover, with Watchonista: Volume 01, 99 per cent of the images and 100 per cent of the text included in the issue were produced by Watchonista.”

As I move from page to page it is abundantly clear that the Watchonista team wanted to serve up top-notch content, meticulously curated and crafted to the highest degree in consideration of their readers and partners. The scope of topics really speak to both those who are fully immersed in the hobby, as well as serving as a great resource for newcomers to become better acclimated with a variety of products and topics that pertain to watches and other lifestyle categories that speak to adjacent passions such as cigars and spirits. Overall it would be a fantastic literary addition to the library of any watch enthusiast, so I would encourage you all to go out and grab yourself a copy if you can.
