The Nomos Tetra quartet in shades of pink elevates a new contender for the colour of the year

  • Nomos are releasing four new versions of the Nomos Tetra in different pink hues.
  • The pinks range from a subtle pop of hot pink to a deep aubergine with gold accents.
  • Pink is looking like a contender for colour of the year.

It’s often said that pink used to be seen as a masculine colour long before it gained associations with florals and delicacy, but whatever you feel pink expresses through your own personal style, it’s a criminally underrated colour for a watch dial. Nomos have taken the concept down not just one but four routes, creating a quartet of the four-sided Nomos Tetra series with a variety of shades from pastel to plum.

Even the word pink brings many specific evocations to mind, but the new Nomos Tetra series is a masterclass in just how versatile the colour can be. We’ll begin with the dial of sharpest contrast, named “Die Unerreichbare” or “The Unattainable”. The anthracite-silver dial gives off a lot of depth thanks to its sunburst finishing, and allows the subdial in hot pink to really sing. This little window of colour is like a jolt of cheeky personality, and really captures the playfulness of the Nomos Tetra spirit. Next is a more classically expected pastel pink known as “Die Wildentschlossene”, or “The Fiercely Determined”. This version introduces the matte dial textures and embodies the more delicate sides of pink, while a little pop of yellow can be found as the small seconds hand.

Although it may be debatably closer to purple than pink, the aubergine dial called “Die Fuchsteufelswilde” (The Mad One) is a brooding yet refined piece with its gold-tinted subdial. Finally, “Die Kapriziöse” (The Capricious) presents a light-toned flesh colour which would surely match a lot of contemporary fashion choices. All of these watches are presented in the 29.5mm version of the Nomos Tetra case, which might sound small but actually wears quite well on an average wrist. The sharp-edged square case has a lot more dial area than a circle, and the art-deco lugs stretch out to 40.5mm. They’re powered by Nomos’ hand-winding Alpha calibre, allowing the watch to be a staggeringly thin 6.3mm tall as well as precise over its 43-hour power reserve. To complete the look, you can choose an exhibition or an engraved solid caseback, and the strap is grey vegan velour.
