FIRST LOOK: The IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Edition 75th Anniversary

For IWC 2015 is the year of the revamped Portugieser as it marks the iconic model’s 75th birthday, and as such IWC are releasing a swathe of limited edition anniversary pieces. Among them is this clean and easy to read Perpetual Calendar, with its big date and month, and leap year displays. Oh, and you also get a chronograph to boot. As with the design of the new Portugieser annual calendar, the slightly off-centre placement of the date and month apertures is a little odd – but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume there’s a good movement architecture reason for this. But even factoring in the top heaviness, the IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Edition 75th Anniversary is a very handsome piece.
