FRIDAY WIND DOWN: 3rd April, 2015
Felix ScholzNot just any Friday, but Good Friday! Wind down with beer AND chocolate eggs.
What happened?
In short – Baselworld. Watch journalists the world over are either recovering or feverishly writing up ‘best of’ lists. Or both.
This piece by the NY Times is the best article I’ve ever read for summing up the often insular and occasionally over-the-top tradeshow.
And to combat the watch fatigue that is so prevalent at this time of year, we found two pieces on the style of Baselworld – one of them wasn’t to hard to find given that it was penned by the man behind our very own Longines Watercolour Watch Project – Sunflowerman.
Having said that, the other one wasn’t too hard to find either, a street style wrap up of the fair by fellow Aussie, Dmarge.
What actually mattered?
Fellow Melbourne watch (and cycling) blog Bridge and Barrel made ‘risti news by announcing a 99 piece limited edition partnership with Officine Panerai. Hang on, what was the date of that post?
The week in numbers:
2: The number of seconds @bridgeandbarrel had us going.
1005: the number of Instagram followers who gave the new 39mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual the double tap of approval.
1.5: The approximate weight, in kilos, of Baselworld USB press kits we lugged home.
3.5: The approximate weight, in kilos, of Baselworld press chocolates we lugged home.
