Norqain presents a Steel & Gold take on their Adventure Sport Chrono Day/Date 41mm

Zach Blass
  •  Norqain introduces new Adventure Sport Chrono Day/Date 41 Steel & Gold
  • Hints of 18K 5N red gold are injected into the design through the bezel, hands, counters, and Norqain logo
  • 100m water-resistant 41mm case, automatic day-date chronograph calibre

Norqain has a very clear and specific lane for their watches: they must be robust, high-performing and ready for adventure. With collection names like Neverest, Wild One, Freedom, Independence, and, in this instance, Adventure Sport, it is very clear their watches are built to withstand stress. But, they do so in style, with customisable/engraveable case plates, distinctly patterned dials, and for the newly released Adventure Sport Chrono Day/Date 41mm, a handsome injection of 18K 5N red gold for added visual flair.

The majority of the watch is executed in stainless steel, largely brushed with complimenting accents of mirror polish to add a touch of elegance to the sporty design. Its usage of 18K 5N red gold is more for visual spice, with hints of the gold added in a manner that caters more to legibility through visual contrast rather than precious metal flexing. At 41mm in diameter, and 15mm in thickness, the watch is definitely of modern dimensions. But, as these supplied press shots suggest, the watch can be worn on a variety of wrists well.

The 18K 5N red gold is limited to the bezel, its knurled perimeter solid gold and its aluminum insert plated on its timing scale, and the dial – where the hands, chamfered counter frames, and applied hour indices are gold-plated. The red-gold accents are highly legible against the black backdrop, which conveys further intrigue through its Norqain-patterned dial. At 12′ and 6′ you have your elapsed minutes and hours counters respectively, and at 9′ you can find the running seconds counter. Beneath the applied Norqain logo at 3′, however, you have not only a date display, but also a day display as well – executed in white on black to better blend into the dial. As you would expect with a sports watch, the central handset and applied hour indices are filled with SuperLuminova® for visibility in darkness. The counter hands, however, are not luminous – instead fully plated in red gold.

You have two options to choose from. You can elect to purchase the Norqain Adventure Sport Chrono Day/Date 41mm Steel & Gold on a supple-yet-tough black rubber strap, or on a largely case-matching stainless-steel bracelet with a distinct four-link structure that mimics the moutain peak logo of the brand.

Inside, and exhibited beneath an exhibition caseback, you have the automatic Norqain day/date chronograph calibre NN17 that is based on the Sellita SW500. The calibre is a tried and true performer, and offers 62 hours of power reserve off the wrist on a full wind.
