FRIDAY WIND DOWN: 20th February, 2015

On a Friday afternoon a certain mood descends on the Time+Tide loft, as it does in offices all over the world. You know how it is. The music gets louder, the typing gets slower, the lunches get longer and the talk soon turns to the week that was. What happened in watches? What actually mattered? How many goats did we see on dials?

What happened?

HODINKEE did a watchmaking class and we wanted to be there.

 What actually mattered?

Hublot were over the moon about their first ever moonphase.

Who said that (and how on god’s green earth does it relate to a watch)?

“Virility, authenticity, performance, sensuality.”

Happy Chinese New Year!

So many shout outs, so many goats. Almost as many as Quill & Pad packed into this supremely entertaining (and goat-rich) post. Our request for next week: PLEASE PEOPLE, GIVE UP THE GOATS.

Did You Know…

Goats hate to get wet and will avoid or jump over puddles. (Thanks Quill & Pad)

We want better abs. We’re one step closer. Felix talked chronographs with the Editor of Men’s Health. Andrew asked ‘what would you rather’ to The Weekly Review: an apartment in Brunswick or the Montblanc Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères Vasco da Gama?

The week in numbers:

839: The largest number of Instagram likes. It was all about Patek until the Fastrider (aptly) overtook it at the last minute.

At least 70: At least The number of times the Creative Director of Tudor says ‘virile’ in describing his watches. Not an exaggeration.

5%: The percentage Patek Philippe dropped their prices by in Australia.

750: The number of IWC Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “75th Anniversary” watches being made in steel. That’s a proper limited edition.
