FRIDAY WIND DOWN: 9th October, 2015

You’ll be glad to know that after a particularly jet-setting week taking in Hong Kong and Tokyo, team Time+Tide is safely back in on Australian soil. Fun though it was, we’re glad to be relaxing in the office with the warm breeze drifting through the window open and a drink to hand. One week ago it was a different picture. We were seven hours into a day of back-to-back appointments, wrapping up a Baume & Mercier photoshoot before dashing off to an IWC interview. The closest we came to a relaxing drink were all the espressos required to keep us going. It was an amazing week, and there’s plenty more videos, reviews and interviews to share, but for now we’re glad to be home.

What happened?

Adrian-brody-bulgari

We hung out with Bulgari and Adrien Brody (and his mum!) in a Japanese whisky bar. But that’s a story for another day.

We also partied with Tudor, Ducati, Antarctic explorers (and Justin Bieber?) on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island.

Nomos went ahead and updated a big chunk of their collection, releasing 10 new references. Out of the blue. And they’re only going to be making these watches for a few months. Bravo Nomos.

We also spent a special night with the A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk minute repeater at the Flower Drum in Melbourne. A very hot date indeed. We can confirm that it sounds as good as it looks.

The week in numbers

19,000,000: Approximate $AUD brought in at Sotheby’s auction of important timepieces in Hong Kong on October 6th . At 107.17 million HKD to be precise. it’s a big number, but still on the lower end of their pre-auction estimates.

Richard Mille Erotic Tourbillon RM69 Slider

216: Possible sexy suggestions on Richard Mille’s Erotic Tourbillon.

42: Percentage of the Australian media contingent at Watches & Wonders that hailed from Time+Tide. We’re aiming for over 50 per cent next year.

15: Inflight movies watched by Team T+T. Picks of the bunch, Spy and the perfect plane fodder Man Up.
