Chris Evans unveiled as People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive while wearing this watch…

Zach Blass

Chris Evans has long been beloved by audiences worldwide. From the early years of his career in Not Another Teen Movie, to the role of Captain America that launched him into superstardom, the versatile actor has played many characters over the years. But, the one irrefutable through-line is that no matter the role – even with his creepy moustache in The Gray Man – plenty of moviegoers are heavily in lust with the heartthrob. So, it should come as no surprise and is, perhaps, long overdue, that Chris Evans was decreed this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine.

Past winners include Idris Elba (2018), The Rock (2016), David Beckham (2015), among a total of 37 winners. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, clearly hires “sexy”, as the three latest winners are all stars within Marvel films – Michael B. Jordan in 2020, Paul Rudd in 2021, and now Chris Evans in 2022 – with Chris Hemsworth taking home People‘s Sexiest Man Alive prize in 2014. As hard as it is though to not to lock into Evans’ smouldering gaze, many watch enthusiasts caught the fact he sported a fan-favourite watch in his People photoshoot: the IWC Mark XVIII.

Now, you may be wondering how we can tell Chris Evans has a IWC Mark XVIII on, and not the new Mark XX. Well, the tell is that if you zoom in on the watch you will notice the date window, and the disc beneath it, is executed in white on black versus the black on white on the Mark XX. The Mark XVIII has since been discontinued, with notable upgrades for the Mark XX being a refined case lug-to-lug length, upgraded movement with five days of power reserve, and interchangeable straps.
