Going green never looked so good – 7 of the best green watches that prove it

Time+Tide

Editor’s note: One of the easiest ways to freshen up a watch is to change the dial colour. Few colours are fresher than green, and in 2019 that trend doesn’t look like going away. Here’s a list we put together last year, of seven of the most envy-instilling green dials.

Today we’re following up on last week’s batch of blue-dialled watches with seven of the freshest green dials on the block. Green is shaping up to be the new en vogue colour, and I suspect that if we ran this list next year, we’d easily be able to double the number of entrants.

Montblanc 1858 Monopusher Chronograph Limited Edition

Let’s kick off with one of the first green watches of 2018, the oh-so-hot 1858 Monopusher from Montblanc. And while the smoky, graduated green dial is a looker, the real winning features are that the case is 40mm, and in the people’s metal — steel! 28,000 euro

Seiko 1968 Automatic Diver’s Commemorative Limited Edition

There’s one thing about dive watches … they can be a tad, how do we say, monochromatic. Well, that’s not the issue with this limited edition Seiko; not only is the dial a deep, dark, mossy green, but there’s also a green ceramic bezel. The only issue will be getting your hands on one. $5300

Omega Seamaster 300 Malachite

This Omega is pretty much the polar opposite of the Seiko, except for the green ceramic bezel. Yellow gold and seductive dial cut from malachite, a semi-precious stone, is an incredible combination. I saw this briefly in Basel and was blown away.

Glashütte Original Vintage Sixties Automatic

When he reviewed this piece, Justin called this the ultimate green dial of 2018, and I’ve got to say, the man has a point. It’s not just the colour, it’s the texture. Super ’60s, super awesome. $9650

H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Cosmic Green

Ever since the original blue-dialled steel Pioneer was released, we knew more dials were going to have to happen, and this super rich, super lush Cosmic Green Pioneer does not disappoint.

Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 3600 GMT SBGJ227 ‘Peacock’

Ah, Grand Seiko, masters of the statement dial. This limited edition preener, nicknamed the ‘Peacock’, is no exception. The fact that it’s a classic Hi-Beat GMT combo as well is just the icing on the cake. $9200

Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor “Montre Ecole” British Racing Green

The most recent addition to the list is this British Racing Green version of the Galet Micro-Rotor, released at London Craft Week. What I really like about this one is that it eschews razzle and dazzle for typically British sobriety. 37,000 CHF
