Felix Scholz

A while ago we engaged in a little bit of social media democracy. Using the power of instagram we asked our beloved (and occasionally overly ‘passionate’) fans what watches they wanted us to talk about. Because, lets be real here – we’re just like you. Watch guys that obsess over particular models and brands. But to refresh our content calendar – and to open ourselves up to new watchcrushes – we threw the agenda over to you.

Well, we asked and we received. The most commented-on post yet, to the power of 20. It was a simple question “What brands do you want to see more of on Time+Tide?” 118 comments later we had a much better idea. In total,  you suggested 40 brands. To summarise the post and to give it a podium finish, we’ve detailed below the top three and a pie chart of all suggestion. Yay, science!

Omega-Speedmaster-Apollo
You guys can’t get enough of Omega – and with watches like the Speedmaster Apollo 11 45th Anniversary we can see why.

Omega

By far the fan favorite was Omega. Honestly this makes sense. They’re a giant company with something for everyone. We give them a fair bit of air-time here, but clearly you guys can’t get enough.

Patek-Nautilus
You want to see more Patek Philippe – and we don’t blame you.

Patek Philippe

Yep. It makes sense that you guys want to read about the big dogs of the watch world. They routinely make some of the most astounding watches around and are a company swathed in mystery.

IWC-Big-Pilot
It’s hard to go past the rugged appeal of IWC. We get that.

IWC

So it turns out you guys love the clean German styling of IWC. Clearly you are readers of style and distinction.

Speake-MArin-Valsheda
You want to see more boutique stuff, like this Peter Speake-Marin Valsheda

BONUS – Independent Horology

Turns out quite a few of you would like to hear more about the indies of the watch world – the talented small teams who make some astonishing timepieces without the backing of major luxury groups. If we grouped all the independent brands you suggested together into one category they were actually the second most popular response – so expect to hear more about them.
