You can get not one but TWO Blancpain watches in this charity fundraiser for ocean conservation

Seventy years ago in 1953, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms became the first modern dive watch that was readily available to consumers. Tackling the practical requests of French Navy combat swimmers, the original Fifty Fathoms set the default style for modern diving watches by offering guaranteed water resistance, a large 41mm case, a rotating timing bezel and a luminous radium handset, all set against a black dial for easy legibility. Ever since, nearly every dive watch has contained a little piece of Blancpain DNA.

But having made it safer for man to explore the ocean, Blancpain consequently felt a responsibility to preserve it.  Over the years, the brand has been heavily involved in supporting efforts to preserve marine ecology and one of the initiatives they support in this domain is Oceana, the largest international advocacy organisation dedicated solely to ocean conservation. Oceana helps to protect and restore thriving marine ecosystems that mitigate the effects of global warming and secure sustainable fisheries around the world. This Saturday, Oceana is holding their 16th annual SeaChange Summer Party and Blancpain is contributing to one amazing price in the charity auction.

The prize encompasses three distinct components. Firstly, the winning bidder and their guest will enjoy a four-night stay at the LEED Certified 1 Hotel Central Park, a five-star hotel n the heart of Manhattan. In addition, they’ll also enjoy a dinner at The Modern – a contemporary American restaurant that holds two Michelin stars at the Museum of Modern Art – and get two complimentary passes to MoMA where they can admire masterpieces by the likes of Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Vincent Van Gogh.

But it’s the watch component of the prize that will get watch lovers excited. The winner will be treated to an exclusive shopping experience at Blancpain’s flagship boutique on Fifth Avenue where they’ll have the opportunity to select two watches from either the Villeret or Fifty Fathoms collections. The Villeret range is the purest expression of the classic watch ethos that Blancpain offers, while the Fifty Fathoms is, of course, one of the truly iconic dive watch families. Pick one of each and you’d have a serious two-watch collection right there or double down in the range of your choice.

To participate in this charity auction, simply place your absentee bid here before 5pm PDT this Saturday.
