VIDEO: Q+A with our Editor, Zach Blass

Time+Tide

If you are a regular on our site or YouTube channel, you are probably familiar with the name Zach Blass. Zach joined the team a little over two years ago, and in that time he has already amassed nearly 800 articles (!) under his byline. Through his coverage, you probably know a bit about him already – that he was the first American on the team, that he is based in New York City, and that he is self-admittedly quite slender-wristed. But, on the heels of his promotion to Editor of Time+Tide, Zach, while strolling through Old Town in Geneva, decided to share a bit more about himself – answering five questions he felt would allow you to get know him even more.

In the video above he answers five questions: What got him into watches? What did he do before working with Time+Tide? Which watches he wears the most? Which watch will he buy next? And what is his grail watch? Through this series of questions, Zach covers the past, present, and future of his horological journey, one he expresses will be forever ongoing. While a humble authority on all things timepiece-related, Zach believes, in the world of watches, one is always a student. Even if you are a master, there is always more to learn.

As Zach reveals in the video, the start of his adventure with Time+Tide began back in April of 2020. Just as the pandemic began, he took the initiative to pen a story about his chase for the original Seiko Spring Drive watch from 1999 – the rare JDM limited edition of 500 pieces: The SBWA001. His reader submission made its way onto the site, and three months later he joined the team as a contributor. He then worked his way up the editorial ladder, becoming a staff writer, then US Editor, then Deputy Editor, and now the Editor of Time+Tide Watches. So, without further ado, we hope you enjoy the video above.
