If you want to get know what makes any given watch collector tick, then it is wise to get a sense of what is in their watch collection. But if you really want to dig deeper, then its best to ask which watch they wear the most. Right before the close of 2021, the team all shared their most worn watch of the year – one name however, our founder’s, was not present on the list.

Alongside many industry and community personalities, such as Max Büsser of MB&F and Marko of Swiss Watch Gang, in the video above our very own Andrew McUtchen revealed his most worn watch of the year and why it received so much wrist time throughout 2021. The timepiece in question was one of the biggest announcements of the year, a major point of collector conversation then and even today. So what is the watch that Andrew wore the most?

zenith chronomaster sport review video

Answer: The Zenith Chronomaster Sport. The hi-beat chronograph drew a lot of eyeballs for sharing a bit of a resemblance to a particular unobtanium chronograph. While on the surface the parallels are clear, when you dig deeper it becomes that much more clear how it is a distinct offering.

We previously published the story 5 surprising things we learned about the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, including why there’s a wait list. The post came off the back of a chat we had with Zenith’s Head of Product, Romain Marietta – who jumped into a Zoom for a group of Australian Time+Tide Club members.  He shared, then, that he was not just surprised, but “shocked” by this new collection’s immediate and profound success. “We knew it would be big, but not this big,” he admitted.  If you have yet to watch this video already, definitely give it a watch and learn the following:

  1. Romain’s proudest design detail is so subtle that I completely missed it.
  2. Chronomaster Sport watches will make up 30% of Zenith’s total production, with quantities of black and white dial already adjusting for popularity – watch the video to learn what the  total now tallies up to.
  3. Romain’s personal choice of Chronomaster Sport might surprise you.
  4. Zenith’s previous CEO, and Romain’s ex boss, Jean-Frederique DuFour who now heads Rolex “has definitely seen it”. What was his response?
  5. True or false: there are less El Primero movements in existence than there are Rolex watches from just one year?
