What’s the story behind your Omega Constellation?

My Omega Constellation was a gift from my wife to mark the birth of our son. I had admired different watches for some time and has some strong views on what I liked and what I didn’t, so it was great to get something that was exactly what I liked aesthetically. It was a complete surprise.

When – did you get this watch?

It was given to me in 2009.

Where – has this watch been?

This watch has been around for 50 plus years, and I’ve only owned it for the last 5 or so – so I have no idea where it might have been! That’s part of the appeal. It’s a beautiful watch with a history that’s older than me.

Why – do you love this watch?

It’s something I wear almost every day. People often comment or ask about it.  I like the fact it’s been worn before me and has a history. I know it’s something I will pass onto my son one day.

What does this watch say about who you are?

It isn’t large by contemporary standards, so I feel it’s an understated – not brash or showy like some watches. Its well-worn and used. It doesn’t sit in a draw or a box. When I got the watch, it had some scratches and marks. The dial isn’t pristine. I’m sure by the time I pass it onto my son, it will have a few more and that’s part of its, and my, history.

If you could buy any watch tomorrow what would it be, and why?

I have three sons, so I guess I’d be looking to make one or two more acquisitions in the future. I do like some of the older IWC Portuguese Automatics and many of the watches by Meistersinger as well.
