TAG Heuer have established themselves as the go-to brand for luxury smartwatches with each subsequent edition of the TAG Heuer Connected improving both form and function. When considering modern technology, it’s impossible to have a conversation about recent advancements without broaching the subject of NFTs and cryptocurrency. NFTs have seeped into seemingly every walk of life, whether for pure financial interests or artistic ones too. There are limited-edition watches even from microbrands that come with linked NFTs now, so it makes sense that the next logical step would be a watch that can store them and allow them to be easily viewed.

Partnering with Ledger, who make extremely popular crypto wallets such as the Nano X, the TAG Heuer Connected can now allow wearers to access their NFT artwork right on their wrist once transferred via a paired smartphone. The Lens watch face has three different options for displaying the NFT artwork while simultaneously telling the time, with size editing also available for a perfect viewing. Both still images and animated GIFs are supported, and are represented in crisp, high definition no matter your lighting conditions thanks to the strong contrast ratio.

Given that this technology is entirely software based, any owner of a TAG Heuer Connected with the Calibre E4 module will be able to get a hold of this update through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for free, revolutionising the idea of new releases in watchmaking. It signifies a new era in TAG Heuer’s history too, considering that you can now shop on their U.S. website using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. A fun fact that TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault shares in the video is that the first Dark Lord to be sold online was in fact, bought using crypto. The future is indeed right now.
