Great Scott, it’s the Friday Wind Down, so strap on your self-tying Nikes, power up your hover board and get ready for your weekly watch wrap-up.

What happened?

Casio calculator
Marty McFly finally reached the future this week, and while things didn’t turn out quite the way he envisaged, he can rest assured his 1985 timepiece of choice, the Casio CA53W calculator watch, is going strong. It enjoys a four-and-a-half-star rating on Amazon. (Also check out what “Customers who bought this item also bought.” Ten bucks says Marty will be a popular dress-up choice this Halloween.)

We started the week with a bang, celebrating the Australian launch of Blancpain’s Ocean Commitment photographic exhibition in Sydney.  Bonus points go to the brand for projecting the Blancpain logo onto the crashing surf.

It was at this event that we met Laurent Ballesta – marine biologist/underwater photographer/all-round-legend – and ever since have been hating ourselves for not following our childhood dreams, like he did. Is it too late to turn that dream into a reality, working alongside Ballesta and his old mate the Coelacanth?

Oh, and this week we cracked 50,000 Instagram followers. How do we feel about the landmark? Scroll to 2:28 here for a fair approximation.

What actually mattered?

Felix-Scholz-James-Bond
Earlier this week, for the first time in history – though surely not the last – Felix Scholz, Time+Tide Editor, was compared to James Bond, Secret Agent. Look at the above picture – the resemblance is uncanny, no? Seriously, though, a perceptive poster over at The Rolex Forum pointed out that the Tudor Black Bay Black on Felix’s wrist looked distinctly Bond-like, and we’re happy to run with that, as long as it that’s where it ends. If there’s one thing we won’t tolerate, it’s team members running covert ops during work hours. It’s just not on.

The week in numbers

5: Days T+T founder Andrew will be trekking in the Tasmanian wilderness, starting today. We hope he remembered to pack his Breitling Emergency.

50,000: Instagram followers (well, 50.5K as of today).

541: Of you who’ve said you’re excited to get an early look at the upcoming TAG Heuer Heuer 02 Tourbillon. It looks good people.

20,000: Dollars you’ll need to spend, approximately, on said TAG Heuer, which is a crazy price for a Swiss tourbillon
