Panerai unveils an exclusive absinthe green Radiomir Annual Calendar for their Paris boutique opening

  • Panerai’s luxurious new high complication Radiomir gets an on-trend green makeover.
  • A platinum case and alligator leather strap ooze European charm.
  • It’s exclusively available at the new Casa Panerai boutique in Paris.

Paris is unquestionably the best place in the world for luxury shopping, and that includes watches. La Place Vendôme, Le Bon Marché, les Champs-Élysées… They’re all names synonymous with fine timepieces. It’s the latter upon which Panerai has recently opened their latest Casa Panerai flagship boutique, the third in the world, and they’ve celebrated this opening with an exclusive new take on their sumptuous Radiomir Annual Calendar.

This beautiful green model – which reminds me of a glass of absinthe, perfect for its Parisian home – is the third take on the Radiomir Annual Calendar, joining the Goldtech-cased, blue-dialled model and Platinumtech burgundy-dialled models unveiled at Watches & Wonders earlier this year.

This green variant is also imagined in Platinumtech, an exclusive Panerai platinum alloy that’s harder and more robust than regular platinum. Anyone who purchases the burgundy Radiomir Annual Calendar will also be invited on a special all-expenses-paid trip to Rome, where Panerai will treat owners to a series of events that will take them through the history of the brand, watchmaking and Italian culture. However, this green model isn’t an “experience” model like the burgundy – so it doesn’t come with a trip, but it’s also a little cheaper.

The Panerai Radiomir Annual Calendar features a restrained and elegant take on an annual calendar complication whereby a reasonably conventional day-date window at 3 o’clock is joined by a small arrow-shaped pip, which points to a narrow moving disc (with the Italian abbreviation for each month) that rotates around the dial. When the next month rolls around, a cam in the Radiomir Annual Calendar’s new P.9010/AC movement allows the disc to jump to the next month instantaneously.

While I’m a fan of the burgundy model, I reckon this green take on the Radiomir Annual Calendar might be the prettiest of the three released thus far. There’s just something indescribably posh about that combination of green and platinum. My take? Use the money you would have “saved” on the burgundy version to take a flight to Paris and pick one of these bad boys up.
