THE HOME OF WATCH CULTURE

Mike Christensen

European Editor

“Time is of the essence, and I like to tell it”

As watch stories go, Christensen’s is a modest one. There is no Rolex Oyster Perpetual or Omega Speedmaster passed down from the gnarled hands of a watchmaker grandfather. Instead, he came to watches properly while working for GQ magazine in Australia. It was here that he first crossed paths with Andrew and would consequently become au fait with Time+Tide. Indeed, at Baselworld and SIHH, Christensen would look on admirably as Andrew and his team would busy themselves around the halls, creating by far the best content from the fairs.

So when Christensen moved back to the UK and the pandemic struck, a lightbulb moment ensued whereby he and his quintessentially British accent could hoist up a flag and fly it for T+T in Europe. Et voilà, he has since helped open the T+T London office and the rest is recent horological history in the making.

First watch: TAG Heuer F1 from circa 1996. “I’ve always loved a grand prix.”Favourite watch: Girard Perregaux Laureato Infinity. Sporty by nature and aspires to be ruggedly elegant – just like me.”Finale watch: The Jacob and Co twin turbo furious baguette in rose gold with white diamonds and rubies. “Preposterously brilliant, complicated and thought provoking.”
