VIDEO: Yema debuts new refined diver fit for Kal-El – the Superman 500

With a name like Superman, the Yema diver, which originates from the `60s, has to live up to its robust nomenclature. Revamped and refined, the Superman 500 now boasts a 50 ATM depth rating, with two case sizes and dial/bezel colours to choose from. Finding a dive watch with rich heritage, 500 metres of water-resistance, patented bezel-lock system, and powered by an in-house calibre, and all for just over US$1,000, is no easy feat – but Yema has created such an opportunity through their new Superman 500.

As I mentioned in my hands-on review, when I dig into the requests folder of my DMs, I often find various people have shot me a message asking what would be a good entry-level watch they could wear daily. Entry level, within the realm of luxury watches, is considered to be right at the $3,000 mark. This, however, for most is not entry – many of the people messaging me are working with a budget closer to $1,000. This is why I was so glad to have the new Yema Superman 500 come across my desk, as the more I dug into the specs, the more I realised I had a new top nomination to answer these messages with.
