The Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional isn’t afraid to be its own beast, with confident yet controlled proportions that match its ambition as a tough 600m diver. Its 46mm size may be a bit shocking in the current climate of smaller watches returning to the forefront, however the way it conforms to the wrist is designed with comfort in mind as well as boldness.

Wave dials are rare outside of Seiko and Omega, but Tissot’s combination of deep, crisp etching as well as a smoky fumé colouring makes the Seastar 2000 Professional’s dial incredibly pleasing to look at. The legibility is great too, with its size giving it a natural advantage, and the large fencepost hands holding masses of luminous paint.

The Powermatic 80 is a nearly faultless choice for any Swatch Group movement, as its huge 80 hours of power reserve makes for a great talking point as well as being super practical. It’s specced with a Nivachron hairspring, which aids the movements reliability and magnetic resistance. Through the exhibition caseback, you can see the Tissot-decorated automatic winding rotor spinning and creating hypnotic patterns with its wavy lines.

The Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional is also a veritable strap monster, with 22mm lugs that will take a wide array of aftermarket leather, rubber, or NATO straps. On the blue models, it comes supplied on a solid steel bracelet which adds a bit more refinement to the look of the watch, while the black reference comes on a dive-ready black rubber strap embossed with the Tissot “T”.
