The Submersible has always been Panerai’s hardcore tool watch since it launched as its own standalone collection in 2019. With some of Panerai’s other collections moving into a dressier and probably drier setting, the Submersible line has remained 100% tool watch. The 2022 novelties sees a new middle ground for the Panerai Submersible range, introducing the QuarantaQuattro, which fits nicely between the 42mm and 47mm sizes with its 44mm diameter.

The planned expansion comes in the form of seven different references and is composed of a variety of materials, from carbotech to steel to eSteel and ceramic. With one of three steel models, Panerai is looking to celebrate the success of the Luna Rossa Team, winner of the Prada Cup, with Prada’s iconic Linea Rossa insignia in a limited, 1500-piece edition. The other two steel models follow in Panerai’s traditional footsteps, with steel bezels and monochromatic dials, with only a flash of blue on the PAM01229. Boldly outlined skeletonised hands further aid legibility, as they contrast well against their respective backdrops.

Check out the video as Jeremy and Ricardo got hands on with some of the new 44mm pieces and give their thoughts on how the new 44mm sizing works on the wrist.
