The Tudor Pelagos Ultra becomes the brand’s most capable diver with 1,000 metres of water resistance

Who said that watches are becoming smaller again? Well, if anyone did, Tudor didn’t want to hear about it, as its headlining releases of Watches and Wonders 2025 both feature 43mm cases. Alongside the new Black Bay 68, Tudor is releasing another capable diver, but the Pelagos Ultra exceeds that meaning as soon as you delve into the specs. It sports a helium escape valve that’ll help it go down to its 1,000-metre rating and come back unscathed, while the titanium build gets beefed up, and the dial sprouts bigger ceramic lume blocks for optimal legibility.
There’s no getting around to it, this is a big watch. At 43mm in diameter and 14.5mm thick, the grade 2 and grade 5 titanium build will help somewhat, though I’m sure smaller wrists may have a harder time pulling it off.
As has been the case with many Pelagos models, Tudor equips it with both a case-matching bracelet and an additional rubber strap, but it’s the former that’s naturally more interesting. It once again incorporates a classic Pelagos feature, and that’s the diver’s extension that’s visualised on the outside of the clasp, supported from the inside by two springs that always keep it perfectly sized.
As has now become the standard for any new Tudor release, the Pelagos Ultra is equipped with a Master Chronometer-certified movement, the MT5612-U, in this instance. The Kenissi-made calibre has a silicon hairspring and a 65-hour power reserve.
