The Tissot PRX Chronograph goes quartz in three sharp new dial colours

Tom Austin
  • Tissot expands the PRX family with a new 41mm quartz chronograph, bringing a more accessible chronograph option to its hugely popular integrated-bracelet collection.
  • Three vertically brushed dials are available in silver, black and blue, each featuring a trio of circular counters, a date display at 4 o’clock and Super-LumiNova-equipped hands and indices.
  • A stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, signature integrated quick-release bracelet and quartz chronograph movement keep the familiar PRX formula intact, with an emphasis on everyday practicality.

The PRX has grown into something of a collection within a collection for Tissot. Since its return, we’ve seen the original quartz models joined by automatics, smaller case sizes, precious-metal details and the full-fat mechanical PRX Chronograph. The latest addition takes another logical step, combining the chronograph format with quartz’s straightforward ownership experience. Tissot calls it the PRX Quartz Chronograph, and it arrives in three dial colours with the recognisable angular case and integrated bracelet that have defined the modern PRX.

The stainless-steel case measures 41mm across, putting it firmly into the sportier end of the PRX family. Its basic architecture remains immediately familiar, with the tapered profile flowing directly into the first bracelet link and a polished circular bezel breaking up the predominantly brushed surfaces. Sapphire crystal sits over the dial, and Tissot has developed shaped chronograph pushers that follow the case geometry instead of appearing as separate cylindrical controls stuck to its side. The result looks particularly neat from above, retaining the clean outline that has become such an important part of the PRX identity.

This launch brings three vertically brushed dial treatments. Silver is paired with rose-gold-coloured hands and indices, giving it the warmest appearance of the trio, with matching outlines around the three sub-dials. The black version uses nickel-coloured hardware and has a sharper, more technical character, while the blue sticks close to the colour most associated with the modern PRX range. The vertical brushing adds plenty of texture across all three, especially on the blue model, where changing light should accentuate the finish considerably.

Three circular counters provide the chronograph information, accompanied by a date window tucked between 4 and 5 o’clock. Baton-shaped hands and applied indices continue the established PRX visual language, with Super-LumiNova added for low-light legibility. There’s also a small PRX signature inside the counter at 6 o’clock, helping keep the model name present without adding another line of text to the centre of an already busy dial.

Inside is a quartz chronograph movement with an end-of-life battery indicator and date functionality. Tissot has kept the product specifications brief for this release, so the focus here is fairly straightforward: accurate timing, minimal maintenance and the grab-and-go convenience that has always made sense within the quartz side of the PRX range. That also gives this watch a distinct place alongside Tissot’s existing mechanical chronograph offerings. The PRX design already has roots in quartz, so the combination feels natural, and the chronograph complication gives the familiar case much more visual and functional presence.

Naturally, the integrated stainless-steel bracelet remains central to the design. Its broad, flat links continue the case lines and give the PRX its characteristic wrist presence, with extensive brushing creating the same clean, architectural look seen across the wider collection. Tissot has also fitted an interchangeable quick-release system, making bracelet removal much easier should additional strap options come into play.

The PRX Quartz Chronograph feels like a particularly sensible addition to a collection that now covers a remarkably wide range of tastes and budgets. It retains the strong proportions and integrated design that made the PRX such a success, adds a genuinely useful complication, and packages everything around the simplicity of quartz. For anyone who liked the idea of a PRX chronograph and wanted something straightforward to wear, Tissot has now filled that gap rather neatly.
