Rolex clearly tried to do their best to please as many of their fans as possible this year. They took care of the serious business with the anniversary Daytona, finally introduced the titanium Yacht-Master and revamped the oft-forgotten Cellini into a brand new Perpetual 1908 model – but they didn’t forget to have a bit of fun, either. This is it. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Celebration, or Bubbles, to its friends, takes on a whimsical approach to the crown’s entry-level piece.
Set against a turquoise lacquer backdrop, the bubbles take on the colours of the very popular Stella dial-inspired Oyster Perpetuals introduced in 2020. All the colours are there – green, orange, red, pink, and of course, that very particular shade of blue. The markers and hands are in 18k white gold, filled with Chromalight lume.
The OP Bubbles is available in three sizes – 41mm, 36mm and 31mm, paired with Oyster three-link steel bracelets in 21mm, 20mm and 16mm lug width, respectively. The larger two models are powered by Rolex’s in-house 3230 calibre, fitted with a Parachrom hairspring with Rolex overcoil and a new optimised ball-bearing for the rotor. Its power reserve is approximated at 70 hours, thanks to a more efficient escapement when compared to the Calibre 2232 in the OP 31, rated at 55 hours. The smaller movement sports a patented Syloxi silicon hairspring and a paramagnetic nickel-phosphorus escape wheel.
