The Horage Lensman 2 doubles down on the vintage camera inspiration

Fergus Nash

Despite the obvious links to a passion for photography, it seems as though the chief mission for Horage is to redefine the meaning of ‘tool watch’. With cameras taking the bulk of the design inspiration, the photography links are merely an outlet for that proof of concept. Creating a beautiful, high-end watch can still be counted as a tool watch as long as it has some proper utility, and the Horage Lensman delivers. With three variations of the new Horage Lensman 2 and a second run of the first generation in the Lensman 1.1, lovers of cameras and watches are spoiled for choice.

The Horage Lensman 2 Exposure retains the design inspiration from cameras and takes things even further. Now in a square case made from titanium and aluminium, it also travels in a much sportier direction. The lightweight materials are well-suited for activity and outdoor photography, while the 39mm width and 45.8mm lug-to-lug length are great gender-neutral dimensions. The dial remains legible and stylish, even though a huge amount of space is taken up by the new Exposure bezel. For the first time ever, Horage has integrated an exposure calculator into a wristwatch bezel by using simple slide rule techniques. By lining up your ISO with your lighting situation, the ideal f-stop for each shutter speed is displayed on the opposite side.

The Horage Lensman 2 is available with either a yellow or a black dial in the standard edition, but there’s also a silver option as a special edition in honour of famous photographer Brian Griffin. With work visible in heaps of famous album covers and throughout other popular media, he was even British Guardian’s “Photographer of the Decade” in the 1980s.
