SPOTTED! BY AG: Dispatch 18, November 2018 – the NOW Magazine launch

Andy Green

A little under two weeks ago, Time+Tide threw a party. Ostensibly, it was to launch our new print publication, NOW. But really, you don’t need an excuse for a good party, and this was a good party, full of (very) good watches. Here’s what I spotted.

Glen’s Patek Philippe Nautilus Chrono reference 5980/1AR

Instagram heavyweight @Syn.Chronus also made it down to our office, sporting (probably my favourite of the night) his breathtaking two-tone Patek Philippe Nautilus Chrono reference 5980/1AR.

Jarrod’s IWC Aquatimer Bronze Collectors Forum LE

Early on I was drawn to the wrist of Red Bar NZ founder, Jarrod. He happened to be in town to collect several rather special watches, including this amazing IWC Aquatimer Bronze Collectors Forum LE, which is limited to 250 units — so you won’t see them too often. Jarrod also happened to score his lucky number: 22.

Rodger’s Tudor Black Bay GMT

Another prolific watch collector, and Australian actor, Rodger Corser was in the building — sporting a sought-after Tudor Black Bay GMT. You might remember a video we created with him a couple of years back, where he shared his passion for watch collecting and his long-standing love for Tudor. Rodger’s particular love for the Black Bay GMT can be put down to its function, which comes in handy given the amount of travelling he does.

Herb’s Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Titanium Carbon

Those who attended the launch event noticed the Red Ferrari Portofino parked out front of our office, and understand why. Well, it’s got a little to do with the man wearing this Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Titanium Carbon — Herbert Appleroth — who happens to be the CEO of Ferrari Australasia. Herb’s also a passionate watch collector, and reader of Time+Tide, and was kind enough to share his watch journey on the night.

Chief Brabon’s Panerai PAM615 Luminor Submersible Flyback Titanio

Chief and his lovely wife Emilie were kind enough to join us for the special occasion. Not only are the celebrity transformation coaches also life and business partners, but they also collect watches together. Chief was rocking (and I mean rocking) a Panerai PAM615, while Emilie was wearing a Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica.

Sam’s Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton

Another wrist that grabbed my attention belonged to Zenith Brand Manager, Sam Kan (Australia and New Zealand). Sam was wearing a showstopping Chronomaster El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton.

Ben Cooper’s TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 01

Wrapping up a big evening of spotting, we’ll finish with chef Benjamin Cooper (Executive Chef at Chin Chin), and his TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 01. Ben has always been a fan of bigger watches, and already owning a Hublot Big Bang, the call to add a Heuer 01 to the collection makes sense.

The full list of extraordinary watches spotted is much longer, and unfortunately, we couldn’t include them all here. Thanks again to everyone who made it down in support of Time+Tide.
