2025 has been an unbelievable debut year for Sher. For what started as a small father-son project, the brand has garnered widespread attention for its first release, an educational tool for little collectors called the Kids Watch. Seeing how important it is to engage young collectors, the watch quickly made its way onto our very own shelves in our London Watch Discovery Studio. By August, the studio was overflowing with kids who couldn’t wait to get their hands on one, as we held a one-of-a-kind event for aspiring young watch fanatics.

Those of you who know Sher will be aware that it’s a brand for watch enthusiasts, built by a watch enthusiast. Darren, the founder, is also one of the three amigos who make up the highly successful watch enthusiasts podcast, That Watch Podcast. It follows the collecting journeys of G, Matt and Darren, as they discuss the pitfalls and highlights of watch collecting for normal blokes. And so, as Darren knew a thing or two about designing a decent watch, it was time for all three to get their heads together and create something special.

Together, the three presenters have a particular penchant for dive watches, so there really was no other choice for a Sher x TWP watch to be anything but a diver. The team set to work perfecting all the specifications they look for in an affordable dive watch, and the result is rather smart indeed. Probably one of the most important aspects of any diver is the case, and the guys knew that nailing that lays the perfect foundation for the rest of the watch.

Formed from corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel, you can take one look at the case and see this consideration shine through. First of all, the proportions are spot on for an everyday diver that is both comfortable and functional, at 41mm in diameter, 47mm lug-to-lug, and 11.5mm thick. These dimensions hit that sweet spot somewhere between a Rolex Submariner and a Tudor Black Bay, which, knowing what the TWP guys like, I think was intentional. Speaking of Tudor, the FXD-esque, almost eagle-beak crown guards are a subtle detail that references some of the pieces that inspired the watch; those, along with some clever brushing on the lugs that gives them a slight twist, a subtle nod to the lyre lugs you might usually find on an Omega.

Don’t be fooled, though; this is not just some homage project. The Dive Watch has some strong features that stack up, such as a 200-meter water resistance rating, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and a matte ceramic bezel with fully luminescent numerals. There’s a screw-down crown for peace of mind, and hallelujah! A solid screw-down caseback, which is cheekily engraved with the words “YUP, IT’S SOLID”, and given my disdain for unnecessary exhibition casebacks, it’s a detail that made me smile, as I’m sure it will others, too.

The dial is where things get even more interesting. Firstly, the layout is that of a typical diver; clear and highly legible, but it doesn’t just take the route of just replicating the unofficial Rolex-style dive watch rules. The applied hour markers and sword hands are neatly brushed, which is unusual, and feature swathes of lume for those all-important lume shots, and all laid on top of a gorgeously textured dial.
Finished in a fumé blue that darkens towards the edges, it has a pleasantly captivating, crackled texture that makes you want to reach in and touch to see what it feels like. The seconds hand and dial texts are finished in varying shades of blue that complement each other, and look closely, you’ll see the watch has a “beverage rating” rather than a water resistance one – a nod to Darren, Matt and G’s well-documented affinity for a drink or two.

One of the reasons behind the watch’s neat proportions is the use of the Miyota 9039 automatic movement inside. At just 3.9mm thick, it’s an ultra-slim calibre, well known for its reliability and accuracy. As the 9039 is a true time-only movement, pulling the crown reveals just two positions to wind and set the time, so there are no annoying quirks like ghost-date positions to worry about. When fully wound, there’s 42 hours of power reserve to keep things ticking, and Miyota claims an accuracy of -10 ~ +30 seconds per day, which is perfectly adequate given the reliability and service intervals of the calibre.

Each Sher x TWP Dive Watch comes equipped with a stainless steel Y-link bracelet, with each link finished with a fine brushing. It’s a reasonably wide bracelet, but it tapers off from 20mm to 16mm to remain comfortable, and honestly, it’s good to see a slightly different variation on the typical 3-link style. The bracelet closes with a refined glide-adjust clasp, and even at the last moment before the launch, Sher decided to add upgraded female end links for improved articulation.

Missing those finishing touches can make the biggest of differences, so to see that attention to detail is important. Sher and the TWP guys know full well that enthusiasts love swapping out bracelets for straps, so the Dive Watch arrives with an additional military-style fabric strap to change things up.
