The Rolex Perpetual 1908 Settimo gets a luxurious new bracelet (live pics)
Borna Bošnjak- The Crown’s dressiest offering gets a delectable seven-link bracelet in yellow gold to match the 39mm case.
- Named the Settimo, it’s exclusively designed for the Perpetual 1908, sporting tiny rounded links and a hidden clasp.
- The Calibre 7140 is still visible via the display caseback, with Paraflex shock absorbers and a Syloxi hairspring.
Introduced in 2023 as a replacement for the aging Cellini, the Perpetual 1908 hasn’t had the numerous iterations of some of Rolex’s other models, but each was very well-considered, including last year’s intricately dialled platinum number. For this year, Rolex is focusing on the Perpetual 1908 bracelet, introducing a brand new style dubbed the “Settimo”, which takes the rounded links of the Jubilee and makes them smaller, making up a new seven-link design. The Settimo bracelet was designed with the 1908 in mind, and for now only features in yellow gold, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see other precious metal variants down the line.
With an all-polished finish befitting of the 1908’s overall aesthetic, which naturally had to include a hidden folding clasp with only the Rolex coronet indicating the closure. What surprised me most though, is that the bracelet doesn’t seem “properly” fitted. Let me explain.
The end-links are curved, but do not sit perfectly flush with the 39mm case, leaving an air gap. I’m not quite sure how I feel about this design choice, and will resign my final judgement until I see the watch in person – I’ll only call it “curious” for now.
The rest of the specs are as you’d expect – it’s the same, 39mm x 9.5mm yellow gold case that launched back in 2023, with either a matte white or black dial available. It’s a handsome look, with clever touches like the Mercedes-less Mercedes hand, and the neat double-railroad tracks of the minutes and small seconds.
Visible via the caseback is the Calibre 7140, the Rolex movement that I explored in more depth in this comparison against a Calatrava. It’s impressively thin at just 4.05mm, with “côtes de Rolex” striping and some nice solarisation, offering a 66-hour power reserve with a 4Hz beat rate, and sharing some similarities with the new, high-beat 7135 in the Land-Dweller.
