In yet another example of water being wet, desirable Rolex models are not easy to get. I have searched the cabinets of authorised dealers in Dubai, central London, Edinburgh, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco and not one of them had a single steel GMT or Submariner.

The key takeaway here is that the risk of consumer frustration is real and present, and rumoured production increases of around 6% will not be enough to tip the supply/demand balance, unless Rolex is willing to shift production ratios more heavily towards steel pieces.
