The concept of the #pioneertour is elegantly simple. They will give it to a friend with these instructions: keep it for a week, take some happy snaps of what you did with it, and where, and then bestow it to another worthy watch-loving friend to do the same. Preferably one who is soon jumping on a jet plane. Because this tour, like the watch itself, is all about a pioneering spirit. It’s about wanderlust. Adventure. And exploration.

This jet black DLC version of the Pioneer Centre Seconds embodies these same values. While representing the kind of nuance, finishing and quality predicated by watches in the high horology class, this model is designed for all-terrain. The perfect world traveller, really.

Under the highly domed sapphire crystal — this is one of those zingers you’ll notice when you see the watch in the metal — is that iconic Moser fumé dial in stunning Funky Blue, a first for the Pioneer collection. It looks the same as the core model, however a live inspection will reveal a very different, lighter blue hue. The hour markers and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, which is intensely lumey, from personal experience.
