The Parchie “Lunar-Time” Limited Editions For Hodinkee is a new space-themed kids’ watch that’s ready for take off
Tom Austin- Kids’ watch brand Parchie has unveiled its long-awaited second watch, in collaboration with Hodinkee.

The beauty of kids’ watches is that, on the whole, you don’t need to worry about things like complications this, and specifications that, and all the other stuff that we grown-up watch nerds lie awake at night worrying about. They just need three letters at the top of the list: F-U-N. Parchie is a kids’ brand that knows this all too well and focuses on the fun side of getting kids to enjoy wearing a watch. The brainchild of former Hodinkee editor Cara Barrett, the brand launched around four years ago with a colourful range of kid-friendly quartz pieces, and today, the latest chapter of the story is ready for takeoff.
The Parchie Lunar-Time is released in collaboration with our friends at Hodinkee as part of their Limited Editions program, and, naturally, they played a heavy role in the watch’s inspiration, way past the creamy Hodinkee marking on the white dial. It’s a cheeky take on a particularly iconic, red-cased, space-themed watch, which has been treated to Parchie’s fun, educational style. And just like their previous 2023 Hodinkee Limited Edition, the Lunar-Time is available in both 32 and 36mm sizes, allowing for bigger siblings, or of course Mum or Dad, to join in on the fun.
The red anodised aluminium case features an oversized crown, making setting the time a breeze for tiny fingers, and a bright red metallic bezel with contrasting white numerals, which allow young time-tellers to easily pick out the hours and minutes by the positions of the black-tipped hands. The Lunar-Time’s water-resistant to 30 meters, too, making it ideal for summer days in the paddling pool or for exploring a faraway underwater world, even if those two are essentially the same thing.
Kids are notoriously picky about details like comfort; they’re brutally honest and will be the first to let you know if this new watch you got them has an itchy strap. Thankfully, the nylon, PLC, and Velcro strap is soft and supple and won’t get in the way of a hard day’s play. They’re fully adjustable from 25mm to 36mm in length, so if they do have to strap over an ultra-high-tech spacesuit in a hurry, the Lunar-Time will manage it just fine. Finally, the watch is powered by a Japanese quartz movement, meaning small kids and big kids alike will always have the accurate time right when it’s needed.
I’m a firm believer in keeping the younger generation inspired to wear a watch. Times are changing, and while we all have access to the current time on our phones, these are disposable and can also be severe distractions. They don’t teach us much about cherishing things and enjoying them for what they are, and you only have to see the joy that kids get when they actually have their own watch to know it’s worthwhile. The Parchie Lunar-Time is just another way to capture that, but you’ll have to be quick, as only 500 of each size are available worldwide.
