Mauron Musy brings engineering to the wrist with the new MU09 NODEº

While some brands rely on tradition and nostalgia, Mauron Musy has always looked forward. Founded by an engineer who wouldn’t accept the status quo and wanted to solve the unspoken issues in our industry, that same mindset has been carried forward into its latest release, the MU09 NODEº. An unapologetically modern watch that brings all the features that have come to define this brand since it launched in 2013 are coming to the fore here.
The case measures 41mm across and 13mm thick and comes in a bold design that comes directly from this nO-Ring gasket-free technology developed over a decade ago, and gives this case 200m of water resistance. Constructed in four parts, the case follows an unconventional design with two sets of exposed screws in each corner, a thick sculpted bezel that has been brushed on the top and polished on the angled sides, with a large, knurled crown. There are grooves carved into the case between each pair of screws that flow round onto the back of the case and the exhibition caseback, which displays a plate that, according to the brand, has a neural network engraved on it which represents “the collective intelligence and collaborative thought that brought this movement into being.”
The movement itself, which has been made partially visible from both the back and the front, is labelled as “Swiss Crafted”, which claims to go beyond the minimum requirements of Swiss Made, with the movement being completely assembled inside the brand’s Broye valley workshop and all of its components being sourced from within a 60-mile radius.
The MM03 calibre features a micro rotor, which charges the mainspring with four days of power reserve and some extremely modern styling. Skeletonised bridges hold the gear train visibly on the left side of the dial, along with the balance. The right side of the dial is covered by a plate that can come in a grained silver, grained ruthenium, or a sunburst blue, which is then topped with 18k gold, skeletonised hands.
Of course, all of this is held together with the brand’s first integrated bracelet that is made from the same grade 5 titanium as the case. The H-link design combines brushed and polished components in a way that resonates with the case’s design and makes the entire watch feel harmonious, while doubling down on those modern aesthetics. You also get an additional rubber strap that features the same folding clasp as the bracelet if you want to switch things up.
This is a watch that wants to tell you exactly how modern and engineer-focused it really is from just one glance. It doesn’t hide away anything from its gasket-free sealing system to the movement that it protects inside, everything is out on display to make an instant conversation starter. However, all of this research and development doesn’t come cheap, and so you have to be willing to pay to get this on the wrist.
