LIST: Improve your daily carry with 4 objects from Montblanc’s latest UNICEF collection

Felix Scholz

Over the years we’ve noticed that a love of finely wrought watches often results in a halo effect on the ecosystem of small objects and accessories in your daily life. You start noticing that the other components of your daily carry that have served you well for years – wallets, keychains and the like – are starting to look a little tatty. And of course there are as many options for these everyday essentials as there are watches (ie. countless), and finding the right pen/cufflink/business card holder can be a daunting task. When in doubt, it’s hard to go wrong with Montblanc. Sure, they’re best known as the name in writing instruments, and if you’re here you’re probably well aware of their fine watchmaking chops, but their catalogue is full of things to help remind you that the world isn’t just a digital place. We’ve picked out four items from their latest UNICEF collection that not only look the part, but also remind us that these days literacy isn’t just a digital concept.

Meisterstück Selection UNICEF Passport Holder

The classic heart of Montblanc is the Meisterstück collection – elegant, timeless and hard to fault. This UNICEF edition passport holder doesn’t mess with the tried and tested formula too much: a single folding cover in black printed leather, with space for a passport and three cards, and full grain leather interior pockets in blue and black with lining in the UNICEF alphabet motif. RRP $270

UNICEF cuff links

One face of these reversible, rectangular cufflinks is classic black onyx. The other is brushed steel detailed with the letters of different alphabets – allowing them to effortlessly transition from workwear to more formal settings. The blue sapphire accent and Montblanc star details on the S-arm fastener provide the perfect discreet flourish. RRP $670

Meisterstück UNICEF Doué Classique Rollerball

Finding the right writing instrument is a deeply personal choice, and something Montblanc spoils you on. After a surprising amount of soul-searching we settled upon this option. A rollerball might not be as fancy as a fountain, but it requires a lot less commitment. The Classique size is a nice middle ground, and the alphabet-engraved metal cap with platinum coated clip marks this model out as something a bit special. Complete the picture with ink cartridges in UNICEF’s distinctive bright blue. RRP $1100

UNICEF 2017 Fine Stationery Notebook

Ditch the notes app on your phone and revert to the analogue version. This 192-page lined notebook is covered with the brand’s trademark Saffiano-textured leather, embossed with the first characters children across the globe learn. It’s a reassuringly tactile place for you to record everything from the briefest of notes to the grandest of schemes. RRP $110
