Letter from the Founder: Help shape the future of Time+Tide by completing our first reader survey

Andrew McUtchen
Tudor-Pelagos-Blue-1
We have secured one of the first blue Tudor Pelagos watches to arrive in Australia to give to a subscriber that completes our first survey.

The survey is now closed. Thank you all for your feedback. We will announce the winner in the week commencing Monday 24th of August. Good luck!

18 months ago, I was getting ready to head off to my second Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva, reporting on the latest watch releases for Australian print media. I decided to do something bold. I registered the name ‘timetidewatches’ on Instagram and announced to the followers on my personal account that, yes, I was listening to them. I had received the message loud and clear.

At last, I was taking my watch business elsewhere.

Most of my friends, family and followers were relieved. Finally, their newsfeeds would be free of wristshots and slow-motion tourbillon videos captioned with heart-eye emojis. While it was daunting to start again, with practically no audience, at least the new crowd would be into watches I thought. Well, that was an understatement. By the end of SIHH, a few weeks later, there were more than 1000 of them. At the time I could hardly believe it. 1000!

And now, a year and a half later, it’s less about the numbers – of followers or brand partners, though we are exceedingly grateful for both – and pretty much all about the platform we are helping to create for Australian watch lovers; a collegiate, inclusive place that is accessible online 24/7, in gorgeous glossy print in WISH magazine and in real life too, with our ever-increasing schedule of events.

We are proud to be the ‘official watch partner’ of WISH magazine in The Australian newspaper.

Now, history is repeating. I would like to take this opportunity to ask you, our readers, what you would like from Time+Tide as we go forward. We’re planning more events, more video and an even better online experience. But there is a lot we can improve on. So we’ve set up a survey to find out more about you, what watches you are interested in and what you already think of us. It should take you between five and 10 minutes. Your information will (of course) not be shared with anyone outside of Time+Tide.

To thank you for your time in completing the survey we’re also very excited to announce that, with the help of our friends at Tudor, we have arranged to purchase one of the very first blue Tudor Pelagos watches that arrives in Australia to give to a lucky winner.

The blue Tudor Pelagos was one of the buzz watches of Basel 2015.

It’s a watch we were hugely impressed by (our review is here) at Basel and the person that walks away with it will be fairly and roundly envied by all of us. Not to mention it being one of the first seen in the country. Very exciting indeed.

Tudor surprised all by retrofitting their new in-house movement in the 2015 Pelagos.

Thank you in advance for making Time+Tide better with your honest feedback. Go well and good luck!
