Laurent Ferrier adds the Traveller complication to the Sport, and it works

One of the big things collectors love about Laurent Ferrier is that, as a brand, they not only take finishing and execution extremely seriously, but they treat complications with a rare kind of restraint, weaving them into the design in a way that feels almost invisible unless you know exactly what you’re looking at. For 2026, an all-new Sport Traveller just launched, and in true Laurent Ferrier style, you have to look pretty closely to see what it’s all about, and for that, I love it already.
The Traveller complication has usually been reserved for the brands’ Classic collection, identifiable by a time zone indicator at 9 o’clock on the dial, and by the wearer adjusting home time with the pushers on the left side of the case in single-hour increments. This has been carried over for the Sport Traveller, and somehow, while the functionality hasn’t changed, it works in the sportiest way possible, befitting of the model itself.
Naturally, the Sport Traveller’s integrated bracelet case is exceptionally finished; sculpted from grade 5 titanium, it measures 42mm across and 13.3mm thick, with its soft curves lovingly brushed and its edges bevelled and polished to an extreme level of detail. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, because, of course, this is a sports model, after all, and it features a domed sapphire crystal up front, circular to match the dial and contrasting the softly squared-off cushion design of the case.
Laurent Ferrier, by its very nature, always opts for subtle dials. That’s not to say they’re devoid of colour and character, but often the dial choices allow the entire watch to take on a life of its own, and the new Sport Traveller definitely leans into that. Finished in slate grey, the dial blends into the titanium of the case, with the opaline surface bringing a beautiful lustre to remind you this is anything but dull. Of course, the devil is in the details, and the details on this dial are what catch your attention. The Sport features broader Alpha hands than the Classic models, and these are no different, finished in 18k white gold and filled with green Super-LumiNova, they’re polished to within an inch of their lives, matching the polished applied white gold hour markers.
The beautiful thing about the Traveller complication is that it brings some symmetry to the Sport’s dial. With a date window at 3, and the home-time indicator at 9, it further balances what was already a clean layout, and rather than being simple cutouts, each aperture features a leading edge which is reminiscent of a racing car vent, something which, if you know much about Laurent Ferrier, is quite close to home. The dial is finished with a finely azuraged small seconds sub-dial at 6, again in the slate grey finish, and while some may argue that a central seconds should be here as it’s a sport watch, it reminds you that Laurent Ferrier doesn’t do things conventionally.
As with any other Laurent Ferrier, peering through the enormous sapphire exhibition caseback is just as much of a joy as looking at the front. Beneath it sits the all-new Manufacture calibre, the LF275.01 automatic, which is not only gorgeous to stop and look at, but is quite the technical bruiser, to boot. Featuring a Swiss lever escapement and an off-centred 950 platinum micro-rotor self-winding system, it offers a substantial 72 hours of power reserve, while beating at 28,800 Vph. 35 jewels assist around 240 components, several of which are treated with some stunning hand finishing, and together, they allow the home-time indicator to be changed at the press of a button.
The micro-rotor bridge is decorated entirely by hand, its angles softened and then refined with gentian wood and diamantine, while the surface is mirror-polished. The movement also features ruthenium-finished bridges with several interior angles, multiple polished zinc surfaces, and a succession of satin-brushed and circular-grained finishes, all handcrafted in Laurent Ferrier’s workshops.
Finally, if you’ve ever been fortunate enough to try on a Laurent Ferrier Sport model, you’ll know all too well how comfortable it is to wear. This is primarily down to the integrated titanium bracelet, extending down from the case, tapering towards the gorgeously functional deployant buckle. It’s almost a traditional 3-link design, featuring chunky, heavily bevelled links, each lovingly prepared and finished, with an intentional yet tidy gap between them. This isn’t the sort of watch you’d want to swap onto something else, and while it can be removed, it’s certainly a dedicated, sporty bracelet for this model.
