Sometimes I wonder if I will ever watch a movie or any piece of film without my eyes searching the screen for a watch. On multiple occasions, I’ve stopped a movie mid-way just to find out what’s on an actor’s wrist. And today, it feels like I’ve hit a new low. Not even an action-movie trailer is safe. Which is how on a recent viewing of Guy Ritchie’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre trailer, my eyes caught a green Panerai on Jason Statham’s wrist.

In the scene, Statham pulls what seems to be a small earpiece from the back of the PAM. I’m not even going to try and find out if such a thing exist. What I can do is tell you that the watch in question is a Panerai Radiomir Ref. PAM00995. It has an army green dial that works perfectly with the yellowish lumed layer below it.

If you know Jason Statham, this choice in wristwear is definitely not happenstance. In multiple movies, he’s been seen wearing Panerai, affectionately considered the “action hero” watch brand. From The Expendables to Transporter, the brand has been seen on his wrist. When not wearing Panerai, he seems to have a penchant for IWC as well.

What’s makes this watch spot even more interesting is that we found out about this movie and the Panerais in it last year. At the time, the project was called Five Eyes. It was revealed that there would be two different Panerai pieces used in the film. The Submersible Goldtech 42mm (PAM1164) and the Submersible Carbotech 47mm (PAM1616). Both of which would be provided by the brand.

With this new piece of information, I decided to got though the trailer one more time. And sure enough, all was revealed.

Here are a couple bad guys with one of them wearing the Carbotech (far right) and another wearing the Goldtech (top left, behind computer).
Here is Jason, with some action hero gadgetry, wearing the Panerai Carbotech.

By the time I was done with my second viewing of the trailer, those two watches were accounted for, in multiple scenes. Yet, seeing as the brand never mentioned the green Radiomir, one has to wonder, did Jason Statham bring it in from his own collection? You know, maybe to scratch that classic PAM itch? Whatever the reason, it’s clear that Panerai has a starring role in this flick.
