Jaeger-LeCoultre host Reverso celebration (and reveal the best engraving on the watch they’ve spotted in the wild)

Events are back! In what had felt like an eternity attending online watch meetups and presentations, the social calendar of in-person events has finally emerged from the Covid freeze of the last two years. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 90th Anniversary celebrations are in full swing, capturing the rich history of the Reverso along with the red-hot contemporary line-up led by the 2021 Tribute collection and breathtaking Nonantieme (which we covered on site recently). The setting for the event, “The Home Of Reverso” situated in Brighton, Victoria, stocked with its own Dark Knight era batcave through to a luxurious bar with a glass wall giving you full view into the pool,  was the perfect setting to encapsulate 90 years of Reverso history.

Andrew, co-hosting with Inigo Ohlsson (Managing Director of South-East Asia) welcomed everyone, discussing the significance and history of the Reverso. Talk quickly shifted to what Andrew and Inigo would each get engraved on their Monoface Reversos. Andrew suggested the Time+Tide logo to Inigo, who pivoted and suggested his family crest would be more fitting.

Inigo went on to elaborate on his favourite Reverso engraving he’d come across, whilst in Brazil. A well-known barber based in Sao Paolo had his business logo engraved on the back which consisted of a skull surrounded by razor blades. We’re still partial to the Time+Tide logo, but that did sound very worthy of engraving.

Gathering amongst a collection of archival pieces from the Manufacture in Switzerland and current pieces, our guests were treated to recreations of 1931 cafe favourites by Emma Rosen as well as trying their hand at the watchmaker’s bench downstairs.

The most in-demand piece was most definitely the Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds in a glowing green. Released in 2021, the watch comes in three dial colours with matching straps including deep blue and burgundy.

Thanks to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Australia team for hosting us and our Melbourne Club Members. Happy Birthday to the Reverso. We’re looking forward to what JLC has in store for the 100th birthday of the Icon. The 90th celebrations will be hard to top.
