Jaeger-LeCoultre opens its first Chadstone boutique, bringing the Vallée de Joux to Melbourne’s emerging luxury shopping capital

There are few places like Chadstone Shopping Centre in Australia. Sure, malls can be found in most metropolitan suburbs, but this mega-mall in Melbourne’s south-east isn’t just the biggest of its kind in the country, but also stands out for its impressive array of luxury brand boutiques, especially watch brands. The latest name to join Chadstone’s horological roster is Jaeger-LeCoultre, marking the Manufacture’s second standalone Melbourne location and the first in Australia to feature the brand’s new boutique concept.

The opening follows a remarkable 18 months for luxury watchmaking in Chadstone. Rolex opened a boutique in partnership with Kennedy in late 2024, while Panerai launched its Chadstone location earlier, sitting alongside established presences from Breitling, Longines, IWC, and Piaget. For Melbourne watch collectors, Chadstone has become something more than a shopping centre—it’s a proper horological precinct where you can experience the full spectrum of Swiss watchmaking in a single afternoon, and an increasingly competitive alternative to the CBD and Collins Street.

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new space is designed to evoke the serenity of the Vallée de Joux, the Swiss valley where the “watchmaker’s watchmaker” has resided since 1833. Through organic materials and natural colours, the boutique creates an atmosphere that balances luxury with warmth, connecting visitors to JLC’s home in Le Sentier without resorting to heavy-handed references or overstated theatrics.

The collections on display span the breadth of La Grande Maison’s expertise. The Reverso—that Art Deco icon born from 1930s polo fields—shares space with the adventure-ready Polaris and the refined Rendez-Vous. The Master Ultra-Thin and Master Control series demonstrate JLC’s command of elegant, ultra-precise calibres, while the Duometre and Master Grande Tradition showcase the technical ambition that has earned the brand over 430 patents across nearly two centuries.

The boutique also houses a Personalisation Wall and interactive Strap Bar, where collectors can experiment with JLC’s complete strap collection—materials, colours, stitching—to find their ideal pairing. A VIP Lounge offers a dedicated space for private viewings, while the boutique’s centrepiece is the perpetual clock, the Atmos.

While Collins Street remains Melbourne’s traditional luxury strip—where our own Time+Tide Discovery Studio resides—Chadstone offers something different: a less hectic luxury ecosystem where watch enthusiasts can experience multiple large boutiques in a single visit.
