INTRODUCING – The new Czapek Antarctique Rattrapante Ice Blue is cool… really cool

I’m sure that all of us have seen our fair share of integrated-bracelet sports watches, but if any of them were worth another look, the Czapek Antarctique Rattrapante certainly is. With a new “Ice Blue” colourway, it offers better contrast than its predecessor, and offers fierce competition against the likes of Parmigiani Fleurier and Bulgari.

The details, in brief

The Antarctique Rattrapante keeps the 42.5mm stainless steel case fairly subdued, with a fine radial brush on the top side of the case, matched by the brushing on the integrated bracelet. High polishing is used to accentuate the details, and it includes the C-shaped bracelet links, thin bezel and pusher chamfers. Keeping in Czapek tradition, the crown guards smoothly integrate the chrono pusher at 2 o’clock, with the split-seconds function tucked away at 10:30.

Towering over the dial is a box sapphire crystal which adds a whopping 4.8mm of height to the otherwise slim 10.5mm thickness. Below it is the Antarctique Rattrapante’s party piece. Blue fume sapphire is used for the minute ring and subdials, with the rest of the dial completely open. This allows the complication to be viewed dial-side, including the operation of the horizontal clutch, column wheels and patent-pending split-seconds clamp. The movement is Czapek’s proprietary Calibre SXH6, made in collaboration with Chronode. It is a split-second monopusher chronograph with automatic winding and a 60-hour power reserve, finished with hand-polished bridge and chronograph level chamfers and black-polished screws, studs and column wheels.
