The conversation of recycled plastic cases has been by and large overshadowed by the popularity of the MoonSwatch, but Maurice Lacroix are one of the few brands redirecting the issue back towards sustainability with the Aikon #tide. The case of the Maurice Lacroix Aikon #tide Mahindra is specifically made from upcycled ocean plastic, with each watch using up 17 plastic bottles. It’s able to be given rich, vibrant colours and Maurice Lacroix claims it forms a material four times stronger than typical plastics. It has the charming lightness on wrist as well as the slightly grained texture we expect from robust plastics without feeling cheap, thanks to the 40mm diameter, sturdy-looking bezel and a sapphire crystal. Mahindra Racing began in the world of MotoGP and competed in the first season of the Formula E Championship in 2014, where they’ve since gone on to land five race wins and 23 podiums.
