Georgia Benjamin’s 3-Watch Throw Down: Vintage Omega, Rolex Day-Date & Family Heirloom

Time+Tide

Editor’s note: This new episode of 3-Watch Throw Down is the 3rd in our latest video series, with still plenty more to come, in which we bring familiar faces of the watch world or certified watch lovers/collectors you have yet to meet to the table to present three of their watches or even have a 3v3 watch showdown.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Midtown Manhattan. We’re sitting down with the absolutely brilliant Georgia Benjamin to talk watches, her refreshing viral watch reels, New York, and how a pitch-black swap meet in downtown LA changed her collecting life forever.

Georgia brings three absolute bangers to the table. First up, a 1963 Omega Constellation with a black gilt pie pan dial, one of Gerald Genta’s sleeper designs that doesn’t get nearly enough love. She scored this beauty at her first-ever swap meet in what can only be described as a slightly terrifying midnight rendezvous in a dingy LA club. Wiring money to strangers in the dark? That’s commitment.

Then there’s the absolute baller move: an 18038 Rolex Day-Date in solid yellow gold with diamond batons and emerald-cut stones at six and nine. This wasn’t just any watch; it was her first watch, purchased for her 30th birthday during COVID after a year and a half of hunting. Black lacquer dial, 1991 birth year, and enough presence to announce “I’ve arrived” without saying a word.

But the real heart-stopper? A gold Bueche Girod that belonged to her grandmother, extended by a goldsmith after three years of searching for someone who could do it without destroying the original hallmarks. It’s all bark and finish, a completely integrated bracelet design, and pure sentimental gold.

We also dive deep into why New York is the beating heart of American watch collecting, what makes this community so special, and what Georgia’s hunting for next (spoiler: mini bamboo AP gem-set). This is what collecting is really about: the stories, the chase, the community – from collection to connection. Watch the full video above and be sure to leave us a comment!
