FRIDAY WIND DOWN: Zenith goes pink for breast cancer, Westime thrills Richard Mille fans in the US

When the Zenith Chronmaster Revival went pink for the Pink Dial Project Auction, many bidders were excited at the prospect of winning such a vibrant piece unique. Sadly, this meant many missed out – until now. In a manner that allows more people to have a pink-dialled Zenith watch, while protecting the integrity of the PDP Project Auction piece unique, Zenith has just debuted a new Chronomaster Original Pink in partnership with Susan G. Komen.

Zenith explains: “The pink dial is a significant symbol representing the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon popularised by Susan G. Komen in the 1990s. Twenty per cent of the proceeds of the Chronomaster Original Pink will go towards their efforts to allow breast cancer patients to live better, longer lives.”

The Chronomaster Pink Original will be available for sale strictly between October 1 – 30 for breast cancer awareness month, and only through Zenith’s worldwide physical and digital boutiques. Price: $10,000 USD

Big news this week for Richard Mille fans in America with Westime opening their first dedicated pre-owned boutique in Beverly Hills. The boutique will carry pre-owned timepieces from brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, MB&F, Urwerk and more.

But where things get interesting is on the Richard Mille front. Westime is the only authorised seller of certified pre-owned (CPO) Richard Mille watches in the Americas, making it the only destination where you can buy a pre-owned Richard Mille with confidence.

Greg Simonian, president of Westime, explains: “As one of only four certified Richard Mille partners in the world–and the only one in the Americas—Westime is a unique destination for everyone seeking a pre-owned Richard Mille watch that has been evaluated, authenticated and restored by Richard Mille’s in-house watchmakers.” Furthermore, each CPO Richard Mille timepiece from Westime is accompanied by a 24-month international warranty, a certificate of authenticity, a service booklet, new strap and presentation box.

Considering the incredibly high price tags of these timepieces on the secondary market, this level of wrist-investment requires a certain level of confidence and certainty. As the only authorised seller of CPO Richard Mille in the region, there really is no safer avenue to purchase pre-owned Richard Mille than Westime.

The Westime Certified Pre-Owned Watch Boutique is located at 206 North Rodeo Drive, 2nd Floor, Beverly Hills. Store hours are 10am to 6pm daily, and 12 noon to 5pm Sundays. Phone: (310) 289-0808.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Watch meme of the week: Should I stop saying ‘timepiece’ in my write-ups?

Well, we opened Pandora’s box after I once again shared my list of eight signs you are becoming a watch snob – and then took to social to ask you for more. It became pretty clear from your feedback that many of you view the term “timepiece” as the horological dictionary equivalent of holding a pinky up while sipping a pint of cheap lager. Now I am having an internal crisis, because I am definitely guilty of using the term often.

Wrist shot of the week: Jon is a ChronoMASTER of style

Does your watch dictate your wardrobe? Or does your wardrobe dictate your watch? Personally, some days it is one way and other days the other. But, ultimately there has to be a sort of symbiosis between the two. Jon here lives up to his dapper handle, showing a masterful eye by pairing his blue jacket, pants and shirt accents, with the blue register found on the the Zenith Chronomaster Sport’s tri-coloured sub-dials. Worn with a suit, a sports watch can be considered a faux-pas by some. But with a sports jacket – I mean sports is literally in the name.

Time+Tide Shop select of the week: Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer Mechanical

Powered by the awesome H-50 handwinding movement with 80 hours of power reserve, the Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer Mechanical is a reinterpretation of a vintage military watch produced for the British Royal Air Force in 1973. Featuring a distinctive dial pattern and robust NATO strap, this is a military watch with real character.

Purchase the watch here at the Time+Tide Shop. Price: $1,250 AUD

HANDS-ON: The Longines Master Collection 190th Anniversary delivers a classically handsome dress watch

This year marks Longines’ 190th anniversary and they’re celebrating with an exclusive timepiece from their top-of-the-range Master Collection. Since 2005 , the Master Collection has become Longines’ home for their more traditionally styled pieces that riff off a number of the brand’s classic designs from the middle part of the 20th century. These are high-end watches with a refined sensibility but, in customary style, Longines have somehow found a way to keep their offerings as keenly priced as ever. It may be the Master Collection, but it’s not out of the reach of a resourceful apprentice. Watch the video above for more, or read the full hands-on review here.

The Time+Tide anti-flipper launch of the Bamford G-Shock DW-6900BWD

You might call it a slightly premature house-warming party. The Time+Tide HQ recently moved into Collins Street in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD and, while our new location probably wasn’t totally ready for an event, we couldn’t resist giving our T+T Club Members a sneak peek of our new home nonetheless. The ostensible excuse for the party? We’d secured the Australian allocation of the Bamford G-Shock DW-6900BWD “three blues”. Click here for the full recap.

HANDS-ON: The Speake-Marin One & Two Openworked Tourbillon blends the best of youth and tradition

At their core, one of Speake-Marin’s strongest assets is their ability to weave traditional horology of the highest order into classic yet youthful expressions – never leaning too far towards either side of the spectrum. And their newly debuting Speake-Marin One & Two Openworked Tourbillon Limited Editions are prime examples of that. You can find our full hands-on review of this dashing duo right here.
