FRIDAY WIND DOWN: We launch our 4th limited edition, plus a new season of About Effing Time!

Zach Blass

This week, we’ve had a lot of excitement at our end. We just launched our fourth limited-edition collaboration watch, the Nivada Grenchen x seconde/seconde/ x Time+Tide ChaosMaster Series, while the highly anticipated new season of About Effing Time premieres this weekend.

The Nivada Grenchen x seconde/seconde/ x Time+Tide ChaosMaster Series really embodies what we are all about at Time+Tide. We may be an authoritative source of watch media, but we also love to take off the cashmere cardigan and spectacles and have some fun. Since the pandemic, the world really was turned on its head by the chaos that ensued. But while the world still has issues to face, we’d like to feel that we have come out on the other side stronger (for the most part at least). So in our cheeky way, we celebrate and acknowledge this with three limited-edition variants that each display, through a seconde/seconde/ designed emoji, how we can embrace the chaos together.

You can learn more about our fourth limited edition here.

We could also not be happier about the warm reception that the About Effing Time podcast received, so we are absolutely stoked that season 2 will be premiering this weekend. In line with season one, you can expect the same forthright and open discussion of all things watch-related with Andrew, Adrian and George. Definitely make sure you tune in for the first episode though, because a big announcement will be made. And, perhaps the poorly photoshopped image above by yours truly is a hint as to what the rather chaotic announcement will be 😉.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Watch meme of the week: Zaratsuism

Zaratsu is not just a finishing technique. It is a religion. A way of life. Jokes aside, Grand Seiko definitely has garnered hardcore fans over the years, and the brand’s embodiment of Japanese culture has drawn great interest in the nation’s broader design, goods and philosophy. Personally, I think this is a really neat side effect of Grand Seiko’s extraordinary impact on the watch community.

Wrist shot of the week: Dana crashes my IG feed

No elaborate explanation here. Just a very sick shot from Dana, perfectly stylising a gorgeous Cartier Crash on her wrist. F**k, what I would do to own a Cartier Crash…

Time+Tide Shop select of the week: Nivada Grenchen x seconde/seconde/ x Time+Tide ChaosMaster Series

How do you respond to a world turned upside down? Are you spun out? Are you fine? Are you fantastic? With a little help from our friends, we present to you the Nivada Grenchen x Time+Tide x Seconde Seconde triple threat – the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver ‘Chaosmaster’ editions.

The base for this creative collision is the function-packed Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver. It was originally released in 1963 with a form nearly identical to what we see from its re-release, but while the original sported a variety of movements, including Valjoux, Landeron and Venus, the modern interpretation is powered by the excellent, hand-wound Sellita SW500.

The Nivada Grenchen x Time+Tide x seconde/seconde/ Chaosmaster series is a limited edition of 33 pieces per emoji. Head to the T+T Shop to purchase Shades, Swirly or Sigh of Relief. Price: US$1995 (plus taxes)

Rolex launch certified pre-owned program, but we are left with more questions than answers

Rolex has just announced the launch of their certified pre-owned program, which means consumers can buy pre-owned Rolex from ADs with a two year international warranty backed by the Crown. On the surface, this is big news. But the real impact and efficacy of the program is still unclear. For now, we are left with more questions than answers. Head here for the full announcement and analysis.

HANDS-ON: Hublot unleash their latest collab with the Big Bang Tourbillon Samuel Ross

Watch collaborations have become a growing part of the watch industry. In the last decade, numerous brands have come together in the hopes of maximizing their reach and customer base. Some of these pairings have lead to remarkable watches while others have been feeble and downright lazy attempts. The Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Samuel Ross, however, is an example of when the stars align in perfect harmony. Read or watch the full hands-on review here.
