FRIDAY WIND DOWN: June 26th, 2015
Felix Scholz
You know what my favourite David Bowie song is? Fashion (beep beep!). I’ve been playing it on repeat today (apologies to the guys in the neighbouring office), because today’s Wind Down is all about fashion, darling.
What Happened?
Pitti Uomo 88 (which we’re pretty sure is a collective noun for peacocks, in Italian) just wrapped up in Florence. As a watch guy it’s always insightful to see what the bleeding edge of fashion is wearing (on their wrists). Based on this wrap of the dos and don’ts (I’m now overly paranoid about tie length and collar gape) I’m seeing that vintage is still strong, especially Rolex. This is to be expected. The really interesting thing is that we’re seeing guys wear watches in different ways, either worn over the shirt cuff or on super loose bracelets; our jury is still out. What happens in Italy might have to stay in Italy in this case.
What we read
Yep, it’s another Apple Watch review. Sorry about that. But work with me here, this is a the story of the disintegrating relationship between the New York Times fashion director and her Apple watch, as mediated by NY Times technology columnist. Clever stuff.
What we laughed at
This cartoon spotted on patekcollector‘s Insta feed. LOL
