FRIDAY WIND DOWN: A Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Aussie presale, an emo Antiques Roadshow and the best Patek Philippe models of 2021

Nick Kenyon

This week at Time+Tide has been pretty diverse when I look back. We considered the latest Bulgari collaboration with Steve Aoki, the price of Picasso’s these days and the state of domestic Cambodian politics. We also received word that the very first pieces of the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 collection are hitting Australian shores soon and we are delighted to offer them through our shop as of this afternoon. We currently stock all colours, but numbers are limited, delivery is in August latest, and once they’re gone they’re gone.

Like many of you, we’ve been waiting for the Auto to drop like it’s hot. It wasn’t too long ago that we spent some good time with the quartz powered Tissot PRX collection, an angular watch with an integrated bracelet that looked like it was straight outta ’78. At 40mm in diameter and a slender 10.4mm thick, the proportions are in goldilocks territory, but the heart wants what it wants and for many people that was an automatic movement.

Lucky for those folks, Tissot were already working hard on a mechanically powered collection, which will feature the same diameter and stand just 0.4mm taller at 10.8mm thick. There are three references, with a blue, black or white dial (the white dial features gold tone dial furniture) making sure there’s something for everyone.

So if you’re keen on adding one of these retro-licious new members of the Tissot family to your own collection, please contact [email protected] to secure your piece.

Have a great weekend,

Nick

Is this the only truly democratic sales process?

Kurono Toki

There seems to be no dial colour that attracts the serious watch collector more than salmon at the moment and Kurono have taken notice. But that isn’t all, with the brand announcing a more fair and democratic way of purchasing their incredibly popular watches. Zach has the scoop right there.
