Fantasy Watch Ambassador: Dom Toretto joins the Diesel family

Editor’s Note: When Nicolas Cage recently gushed over his Grand Seiko on the red carpet, many of you in the comments noted how he should become an ambassador for the brand – and we agreed it would definitely be a fun pairing. This then got us thinking what other ambassador match-ups we would want to see. So, we decided to pick our fantasy watch ambassadors. The only rule: the nominee cannot already be an ambassador for a watch brand. We’ve covered Greta Thunberg, Jason Momoa and Matthew McConaughey so far. Next up, Borna brings Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto into the Diesel family in his Fantasy Watch Ambassador matchup.

Mark Sinclair, Vin Diesel or Dominic Toretto – whichever name you prefer, there is no doubt that he’s been a staple of the silver screen for over two decades. High-octane car chases, superhuman abilities or voicing a CGI tree-child, Diesel has shown that he can do it all, even managing to contribute to a book celebrating Dungeons & Dragons and express his love for the game along the way. This sort of lifestyle asks for a tough timepiece, and while Diesel has been seen wearing a Cartier Tank and a Citizen chrono while playing Xander Cage, there is a clear and obvious choice here – Diesel watches.

For his many red carpet appearances, Diesel needs a slim, possibly even diminutive piece. The Master Chief DZ1952 has a 45mm diameter and a 12mm thickness, and just enough bling to flash some gold under the cuff.

For a more casual affair, questionably stained trousers notwithstanding, the Mega Chief DZ4343 has everything Diesel may need for a night out on the town. With a reasonably-proportioned 51mm diameter and 59mm lug-to-lug, it combines the sporty aesthetic of a chronograph and a black-coated steel case and orange accents, yet reels that same sportiness in with the leather strap. Like the watch itself says, this one’s for the brave, only.

But when it comes to flexing his guns in a tattered tank top, wringing the neck of a supercharged Dodge Charger while chasing baddies and preventing nuclear fallouts, only the Mr. Daddy has any chance of a wrist feature. At 57mm in diameter and a gargantuan 67mm lug-to-lug, this multi-time zone dinner plate is not here to make friends. Much like Dom Toretto in fact, it has none. Only family.
